FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FAQ section! Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about my website, patterns, and content. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out!

About the Patterns

Can I use your patterns to make items for sale?

Yes! You’re welcome to use the patterns for personal use or to make items to sell. Public domain designs, as well as transformed versions, are here to inspire creativity. However, please note that the modernized patterns that I made are copyrighted, and you cannot redistribute them. That means you can’t copy my pattern instructions and re-sell them, or post them on your website. You can definitely link to my site and the pattern itself to share it. I would greatly appreciate that!

Are all the patterns on this site public domain?

No. While many of the patterns are based on public domain designs they have been significantly transformed, and some patterns are my completely original designs!

For public domain patterns, I’ve completely transformed the instructions and added supplementary content, all of which is copyrighted. For more details, visit my Understanding Public Domain page.

Can I share or repost your patterns?

Absolutely, please do so! You may share links to my patterns, but please do not copy or redistribute the my modernized instructions or supplementary content without permission. Sharing the direct link helps support my work and ensures proper credit.

Using the Website

How do I find specific patterns?

Patterns are categorized by craft type—crochet, knitting, sewing, and more—making it easy to navigate. You can also use the search bar at the top of the page to quickly find what you’re looking for.

Do you have a glossary of vintage terms?

Yes! I’m building a comprehensive glossary of vintage and modern needlecraft terms to help crafters understand the language used in older patterns. Check it out here.

Public Domain and Copyright

What does it mean when you say a pattern is in the public domain?

Public domain works are no longer under copyright, meaning anyone can use them freely. However, when I transform, adapt, and expand these works, the modernized version becomes copyrighted. Learn more on my Understanding Public Domain page and my Copyright Essentials page.

Can I use your public domain-based patterns for translation or other projects?

Not without permission. While the original designs may be public domain, the rewritten and modernized content is copyrighted. Please contact me to discuss translation or collaboration opportunities.

Projects and Sharing

Can I share photos of items I’ve made using your patterns?

Absolutely! It’s yours! You made it!

And, I love seeing finished projects so feel free to tag me on social media or share photos with me on Instagram or YouTube. It would be really cool if you linked to my site too.

Can I submit a vintage pattern for you to modernize?

Yes! If you have a vintage pattern you’d like to see modernized, please reach out. I’m always looking for new treasures to transform.
