Square Bag Crochet Pattern
MATERIALS:
- Size 10 crochet thread, 5 balls of any color (the pattern originally used J & P Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen)
- Steel crochet hook No. 1
- ½ yard of quilted satin for lining
- Duck cardboard for the base
- What is duck cardboard? Duck cardboard is a sturdy, thick, and durable type of cardboard often used in crafting and upholstery projects. It’s stronger and more rigid than standard cardboard, making it suitable for creating structural elements in handmade items like bags, hats, or boxes. Duck cardboard provides a firm base or reinforcement for crochet projects like the Square Bag, ensuring that the finished piece holds its shape and is durable enough for regular use. If duck cardboard isn’t readily available, you can substitute with heavy-duty chipboard, corrugated cardboard, or even thin plastic sheets for similar results.
NOTES:
- Use double thread throughout.
- Worsted weight #1 or #2 yarn can be substituted for double thread; check gauge and adjust the hook size as needed.
