Knitted Striped Scarf Pattern

Materials

  • Yarn:
  • Chadwick’s Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 4 Ply, Art. E.232
    • 11 skeins of No. 12 Black
    • 8 skeins of No. 243 Mid Orange
  • Needles:
  • Clark’s O.N.T. Plastic Double-Pointed Sock Needles, Set No. 4 (3 1/4 mm).
  • Gauge:
  • 5 1/2 stitches = 1 inch
  • 7 rounds = 1 inch

Finished Measurements

  • Dimensions: 10 x 68 inches (excluding fringe).

Instructions

Foundation:

  1. Using Black, cast on 110 stitches.
  2. Divide stitches evenly across three needles and join in the round, being careful not to twist.

Body:

  1. Work in stockinette stitch (knit every round) with Black for 4 inches.
  2. Break off Black, attach Mid Orange, and knit for 4 inches.
  3. Continue alternating stripes of Black and Mid Orange every 4 inches until the piece measures 68 inches, ending with a Black stripe.

Bind Off:

  • Bind off all stitches in Black.

Finishing
