Today I’m going to show you how I made a Labubu inspired amigurumi monster in this free crochet tutorial. Right up front I want to say that no AI was used in the making of this pattern. This pattern actually took me a long time to make because I created it from the ground up. I have the sore hands and numb fingers to prove this, lol.

I’ve actually decided to cut back on Ai content and go back to making crafts and art again. So here we are.

I put a lot of time and effort into making this pattern and I hope you like it. I made 3 completely finished Amigurumi Labubu monsters total (and about 7 million frogged ones -lol).

Remember you can also watch the video tutorial on my YouTube channel: Tiffany Bliss.

Okay let’s get started shall we?

For this project you will need:

  1. 1 skein of Fuzzy yarn of your choice. You can use chenille, faux fur, or what ever you like. Size 5 or 6 is best.
  2. 1 skein of Worsted weight size 4 yarn in a light beige color.
  3. 1 skein of Worsted weight size 4 yarn in black.
  4. Scrap of yarn in your color choice for the nose.
  5. Crochet hook in size G/6 4.00 mm
  6. White felt (for the eyes)
  7. Black felt (for the pupils of the eyes)
  8. White embroidery thread
  9. Black embroidery thread
  10. Yarn needle
  11. Embroidery needle
  12. Fabric or felt glue. I actually used Aleene’s clear gel tacky glue and it worked great. So any kind of craft glue will do the trick.
  13. Polyfil or any stuffing of your choice.

Once you have four fingers you can fasten off the worsted weight yarn.

Repeat these steps for the second arm and hand.

Stuff the arms with your stuffing of choice.

Once you have three toes you can fasten off the worsted weight yarn.

Repeat for leg 2 but do not fasten off the fuzzy yarn at the end.
When you have your second leg made we will start attaching the legs together and working on the body.

Note: For the next round, make sure your toes are facing in the same direction when you attach the legs together. Ss into the next stitches if you have to, so that you are working on the center side of the first leg. You don’t count the ss as stitches.

Now we are going to make rows. This will allow the fuzzy yarn to frame the face we made with the worsted weight yarn. The ch1 does not count as a stitch.

Rows 8-16 (9 rows)
Sc in each stitch for 30 stitches and ch 1 then turn your work. (30)

Now working within the confines of those rows we are going to begin decreasing.

Row 17

Make 2

Inner ears with worsted weight yarn.

Repeat the steps above only this time use the light beige worsted weight yarn. This will be attached to the top of the outer ear. Leave a long tail to easily sew the inner ear on to the outer ear.

Make 2

Inner ear center using fuzzy yarn

Chain 5 and fasten off.

Attach all pieces. Center one on top of the other. There are 3 layers.

Attach the bunny ears to the center top of the head using fuzzy yarn.

For the face:

Eyes

  1. Cut two ovals out of white felt.
  2.  To give the eyes a sewn on look, use embroidery thread to stitch around the edge of the ovals with white embroidery thread, leaving a small seam allowance.
  3. Cut out two smaller ovals out of black felt for the pupils.
  4. Sew the pupils onto the white ovals using black embroidery thread.
  5. Add a few stitches of white embroidery thread to the edge of the eyes for the illusion of light reflection.

Nose

  1. Using your choice of yarn color, make a small nose in the bottom center of the face. Make sure to leave room for a smile and teeth that will be added later.

Assembling the top part of the face.

  1. Using a fabric or felt glue, attach the eyes to the sides of the nose.
  2. Use the same color worsted weight yarn you used for the face and use a yarn needle to place eyebrow/eye lids slightly overlapping the eyes.

Mouth

  1. Using black yarn, stitch on a very wide mouth. The corners should meet at about the center of each eye.
  2. Cut out 9 small triangles for the teeth. Glue them to the bottom edge of the mouth.

And that’s it! You’ve made an amigurumi Labubu!
