Motif
  1. Round 1:
  • Using Robinette, make a ring (R) of 3 double stitches (ds), 3 picots (p) separated by 5 ds, 3 ds. Close the ring (cl). Reverse work (Rw).
  • Chain (ch) of 3 ds, 3 picots separated by 3 ds, 3 ds. Reverse work.
  • Make a ring of 3 ds, p, 5 ds, join to center picot of the first ring, 5 ds, p, 3 ds. Close the ring. Repeat this pattern for a total of 4 chains and rings.
  • Reverse work after each element and join the final chain to the base of the first ring.
  1. Round 2:
  • Chain of 2 ds, 3 picots separated by 2 ds, 2 ds, join to the center picot of the first chain of the previous round.
  • Chain of 2 ds, 3 picots separated by 2 ds, 2 ds, join to the chain at the base of the next ring.
  • Repeat around. Tie and cut thread.
  1. Round 3:
  • Tie ball and shuttle threads together. Make a ring of 3 ds, p, 3 ds, join to the center picot of the first chain of the previous round, 3 ds, p, 3 ds. Close the ring.
  • Reverse work, make a chain of 3 ds, 3 picots separated by 3 ds, 3 ds. Reverse work.
  • Make a ring as before, joining to the center picot of the next chain.
  • Repeat around and join the final chain to the base of the first ring.
  1. Round 4:
  • Chain of 2 ds, 3 picots separated by 2 ds, 2 ds, join to the center picot of the first chain of the previous round.
  • Chain of 2 ds, 3 picots separated by 2 ds, 2 ds, join to the chain at the base of the next ring.
  • Repeat around. Tie and cut thread.
Assembly
  1. Cut a circle of felt 3½ inches in diameter.
  2. Sew the tatted motif neatly onto the felt circle, ensuring it is centered.
  3. Decorate the motif with rhinestones, securing them in a symmetrical arrangement.
  4. Cut another felt circle of the same size and use buttonhole stitching to join the two circles together, leaving a small opening.
