When I say this is the best banana bread recipe ever, I’m not exaggerating. It is literally the best banana bread I’ve ever tasted! You’ve heard of wine connoisseurs describing the wine they’re tasting as having “notes” (meaning the aroma and flavors that make up the wine profile), well this banana bread is so full of notes it’s like biting into a symphony.

This is the best banana bread recipe you’ll ever taste. With every bite you’ll be greeted with a symphony of flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 large bananas
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional and not used in our initial recipe as seen in the photo)
  • vegetable oil for greasing baking dish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or dish and lightly dust with flour for easy bread removal.
  • In your mixer or in a large bowl cream together 1/2 cup softened butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Once combined stir in 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
  • In your food processor or in a separate bowl mash 3 bananas.
  • In a medium bowl combine 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Slowly mix dry ingredients into your butter mixture until smooth.
  • Then mix in 1/2 cup sour cream and mashed bananas. (This is also where you would mix in the optional 1/2 cup walnuts if you are using them.)
  • Pour banana bread mixture into the 9 x 5 loaf dish or pan and place in the oven to bake for 60 to 70 minutes. Remove from the oven when golden brown on top.
  • Remove bread from the loaf dish and allow to cool on a wire rack for 10 15 minutes or until cool. Then enjoy!
